Daisies & Poppies~Watercolour~Description:
This painting was started as a winter demonstration piece for an art club in Newport. With such a bad UK winter it was a pleasure to start something more summery. The white daisies are picked out from the white of the paper after laying an all over wash of blues, greens and purples. Watercolour is more about painting the spaces inbetween and less about painting the subject itself.
The painting is surrounded by a light cream mount and gold frame, approximate size 24" x 20".~Orange Tahiti Hibiscus|D|~573~577~MushProducts~
Honeysuckle~Watercolour~Description:
Honeysuckle is a complicated subject to paint in watercolour, but the reward for the artist is to spend time taking in its heady scent. The scent of summer. This painting switches from positive painting at the top to negative painting at the bottom of the picture, to give the overall depth to this lovely climbing plant.
The painting is surrounded by a light cream mount and antique gold frame, approximate size 18" x 22" framed.~Honeysuckle|C|~573~1145~MushProducts~

Spray Orchids~Watercolour~Description:
Most watercolour techniques revolve around blended washes and negative painting - I.e. painting the gaps inbetween rather than the subject itself. This is how I painted these orchids. I had to have regular rests because one's brain becomes totally lost in the complexities of petals, stems and leaves.

Surrounded by a white mount, this painting has a gold frame, approximate framed size 18" x 22".~Nasturtiums|C|~573~580~MushProducts~
Nasturtiums~Watercolour~Description:
"Nasturtiums" started out as a completely different subject! Such is the nature of watercolour that you have to just go with the flow. The initial wash suggested these flowers to me and what followed was painstaking planning to get the clusters of flowers and leaves to look realistic. Even the slugs have had a go at the leaves!

Surrounded by a white mount, this painting has a gold frame with pale blue line, approximate size 16" x 20".~Nasturtiums|C|~573~1144~MushProducts~

Burgundy Clematis~Watercolour ~Since May this year, the new Gallery garden has produced an array of lovely Clematis. This burgundy variety, (of which I don't know the correct name), has been flowering right through to August. It's lovely deep coloured petals are captured here in this painting. Cream mount and gold frame (22" x 18").~Burgundy Clematis|B|~573~1034~MushProducts~
Poinsettias~Watercolour~Description:
Always a reminder of Christmas in the UK, these flowers continue to bloom throughout the year in tropical climates. Technically, they are not flowers, but coloured leaves or bracts, but this lovely red against green colouring has such impact. This watercolour is surrounded in a pale cream mount with 1" gold frame.
